MIKASA AMBASSADOR, MENEGATTI AND HER PARTNER, ORSI TOTH CLAIM FIRST GOLD IN SOCHI

Mikasa Ambassador, Marta Menegatti and her partner, Viki Orsi Toth won the gold medal at the inaugural FIVB World Tour Sochi Open on Sunday.


In the final the Italians defeated Swiss team Isabelle Forrer and Anouk Vergé-Dépré 2-0 (21-19, 21-16).


It was the first female gold medal for Italy after 23 years and 295 World Tour tournament.
Marta e Viki showed their supremacy, deep complicity and experience.
In the final the Italians started had a shaky start caused by the emotions but they levelled their opponents at 13-13 and started to play their best beachvolley. Viki Orsi Toth showed her strength on block helping Marta Menegatti in defence’s actions. Marta&Viki took the control of the match until the conquest of the gold medal.


After the match Mikasa’s Ambassador, Marta Menegatti, said: “We were a little nervous. I think that’s normal, because it’s a final. But in the middle of the set our energy came out. Now we have a gold medal in our heart, because Russia is our second home country”, Menegatti said. “We are very proud of this result, we played very well”.
 Winning the Sochi Open was the team’s first gold, their third overall and their second medal in Russia this year. In May they also grabbed silver at the Moscow Grand Slam.

Mikasa is a fan of Marta’s talent and has dedicated a beachvolley ball called VMT5.
The VMT5 has a perfect grip, one of the best to play on the beach with sun, wind and sea’wetness.
The WMT5 is a limited edition ball, the only one signed by Marta Menegatti.
